The Charma Design System
As with a lot startups trying to find their product placement and customer base, small details tend to get overlooked in favor on constantly building new features and new ideas. Charma was no different, constantly trying to find market fit and product placement, the small details in the User Interface were often overlooked.
I joined Charma as the second engineering hire, with the specific focus on the frontend User Interface and experience. My first focus was to tackle the atomic components that make up the building blocks of every feature.
The building blocks
We ended up with over 50 components in the design system that form the foundation of the Charma application. Everything from page layouts, buttons to reactions, and more.
Putting it together
With using only design system components, we were able to rapidly build out new features while maintaining a consistent look and feel.
The end result
We ended up with over 50 components in the design system that form the foundation of the Charma application. Everything from page layouts and buttons to reactions, and more.
This allowed us to deliver a consistent experience for our customers while at the same time speeding up development and reducing bugs.
